Three workers were killed and two others critically injured in an accident at a coffee plant in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district on Tuesday, police said.
The workers died after they inhaled lethal gases while carrying out repair of a boiler at the Indus Coffee Industry at Mambattu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tada mandal near the border with Tamil Nadu.
The injured were taken to the Sullurupeta area hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical. Arrangements were being made to shift them to Chennai.
The deceased were identified as Ravi, Ravindra and Eswaraiah belonging to villages near the plant.
Senior police officials rushed to the accident site and began investigations.
Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana expressed shock over the death of the workers. He directed officials to provide best treatment to the injured.
