A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then killed in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, police said Saturday.
The incident took place late Friday in Ramgarh village in Amethi.
The girl was sleeping in the courtyard of her house. Late in the night, family members found her missing.
A hunt was launched to find her but to no avail.
Early Saturday, her body was found on the village outskirts, police said.
Family members told the police they suspect the girl was raped and then strangulated to death.

The police have lodged an FIR and initiated a probe. The body of the minor girl has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Amethi is the Lok Sabha constituency of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
