Following the death of three people in police firing in Sershul County of Tibet last week, the Tibetan parliament-in-exile here Wednesday urged the international community to press the Chinese government to put an end to the crackdown in Tibet
"We call for the urgent intervention of the international community, including human rights organisations, governments and parliaments, to end the ongoing Chinese government's atrocities in Tibet," the Tibetan parliament-in-exile said in a statement.
It also demanded that the international media and fact-finding delegations be allowed to access the area to ascertain the real situation in Tibet.
The parliament also urged China to immediately release the detainees, provide medical treatment to those injured and compensation to families who lost their relatives in the police firing.
Three Tibetans -- Tsewang Gonpo, 60, Yeshi, 42 and Jinpa Tharchin, 18 -- died of gunshot wounds and torture by the Chinese authorities, the statement said.
It is not known when they died but their bodies were handed over to their families Monday, the statement said quoting sources.
