Tokyo stocks ended mixed in Wednesday's morning session as circumspect investors hit the sidelines ahead of global economic news this week, including the European central bank's policy decisions.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 10.28 points (0.05 percent) from Tuesday to 20,002.12 at the break, Xinhua reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 5.32 points (0.33 percent) to close the morning at 1,607.27.
Warehousing and precision instruments comprised the morning's notable decliners, whereas air transportation and construction-linked shares led advancers.
