Toll in China quake reaches 95

A day after a magnitude-6.6 earthquake rattled China's Gansu province the toll reached 95, as the 14 missing people were confirmed dead Tuesday.

The temblor jolted Minxian and Zhangxian counties in Dingxi city Monday morning, leaving 95 dead and 1,001 injured, reported Xinhua citing Zhang Kebing, an provincial official.

Meanwhile, China's finance ministry said Tuesday the country has allocated 500 million yuan (over $81 million) as quake relief. It would be mostly used to resettle and treat the quake victims, aid in the allocation of relief supplies and repair damaged public facilities and infrastructure.

An initial investigation has showed that the quake destroyed 51,800 houses and severely damaged about 240,000 others.
