Top stars of Telugu film industry Tuesday announced donations to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the victims of cyclone Hudhud which battered Andhra Pradesh coast Sunday.
The family of veteran actor Krishna announced contribution of Rs.60 lakh. While Krishna and his actor son Mahesh Babu donated Rs.25 lakh each, Krishna's wife announced Rs.10 lakh.
All the actors, producers and others have totally donated over Rs.2.40 crore toward the Chief Minister's relief fund. They also said that they will urge their fans to extend support to relief operations.
Popular actor Pawan Kalyan announced Rs.50 lakh for the fund and said he would soon visit the cyclone-hit areas.
Pawan Kalyan, who floated political party Jana Sena before the elections in April this year, is the younger brother of superstar and Congress leader K. Chiranjeevi.
Popular actors Junior NTR, Prabhas and Allu Arjun declared that they will be contributing Rs.20 lakh each.
Chiranjeevi's actor son Ram Charan Teja was the first to announce Rs.10 lakh for the relief fund. He told reporters that he will also send food, medicines and other relief material to the affected areas. He also announced Rs. 5 lakh for Ramkrishna Misssion to undertake relief work.
Ram Charan appealed to fans of Chiranjeevi to actively participate in relief work.
The producers' council announced donation of Rs.25 lakh. Eminent filmmaker Dil Raju said director's body will separately announce its contribution.
Actor Sampoornesh Babu announced Rs.1 lakh. Another young actor, Manchu Manoj, announced that he is leaving for Visakhapatnam to participate in relief work. He appealed to people to celebrate Diwali with simplicity and donate the saved money towards relief work.
Venkat Sai Media Private Limited's managing director has donated Rs.30 lakh for the relief fund.
