Tripura's new Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday held his "Janatar Darbar" in a bid to resolve people's problems on the spot or without much delay as practically possible, an official said.

"Accompanied by all senior officials, including Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan, the Chief Minister on Friday met more than 100 people of all ages and tried to solve their maximum problems," the official said.

He said the people, including women, apprised Deb of their problems regarding jobs, admissions in various institutions, skill development works, and other issues.

The Chief Minister will now talk directly to the common people on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to solve their problems.

"During the interaction with the common people, the Chief Secretary, Secretaries and senior officials of different departments will remain present for quick resolution of the problems," the official added.

After Friday's Janatar Darbar, the Chief Minister told the media that such meetings are not new and neither is he doing anything extraordinary. "It was there also under Narendra Modi's Chief Ministership in Gujarat. Already, the Chief Ministers of other states are following it."

"But in Tripura, Janatar Darbar is being held for the first time and my government is accountable to the people," Deb said adding that from now on the state government will pay attention the people's problems on priority and resolve their issues.

The Janatar Darbar is a means of direct communication of the public with the Chief Minister, he added.
