Two police constable were on Saturday hit by a speeding truck here, killing one of them, officials said.
The accident took place in Site 4 Industrial Estate around 6.30 a.m., when the two police constables -- Shyam Singh Malik and Mukesh Teotia -- were patrolling the area on their motorcycle. The truck hit them from behind.
Residents rushed the two constables to the Yashoda Hospital where Malik was declared dead, while Teotia was admitted in the ICU in a critical condition.
The truck driver tried to flee, but residents managed to nab him about a kilometre away from the accident site and took him to a police station where he was interrogated, said Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal.
