US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticise The New York Times and the Washington Post for negative coverage of his administration.

"It's hard to read the Failing New York Times or the Amazon Washington Post because every story/opinion, even if should be positive, is bad!" Trump tweeted on Sunday night.

Trump had gone after the same outlets just a day before, reports The Hill magazine.

The President blasted the Post on Saturday for an article that claimed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had discussed Trump campaign issues with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The President also went after the Times for a Fox News story that said a report by the newspaper in 2015 had led a top Islamic State leader to avoid being caught by the US.

The news network updated the story after the Times asked for a public apology, following Trump's tweet.

Shortly after his tweet hitting the media, Trump again tweeted about healthcare.

"If Republicans don't Repeal and Replace the disastrous ObamaCare, the repercussions will be far greater than any of them understand!" he wrote.
