Targeting the millennials and based on their buying preferences, bicycles major Tube Investments of India Ltd. is coming out with an exclusive online brand called Brooks, said a top company official here on Wednesday.
He also said there may not be any major cannibalisation in the sales of its existing BSA models.
"We see a growing segment of online bicycle buyers. Overseas it is a big segment but in India it is a new thought that cycles are offered for sale online. A person can order the Brooks brand cycle online and can even assemble it at home," Managing Director L. Ramkumar told reporters.
Tube Investments makes around 4.5 million bicycles per year.
According to Ramkumar, the cycles sold under Brooks brand are imported and unique as some of the components are not made here.
The company offers city, off-road and kids bicycles on its e-store brooksbicylce.com in the price range of Rs 5,299 to Rs 10,625.
Ramkumar said initially the bicycles will delivered in three cities -- Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad and based on the response, deliveries will be expanded to cities like Pune, Mumbai and National Capital Region (NCR).
According to Vice President of Corporate Strategy K.C. Ramamoorthy, the company has signed up with Jeeves Consumer Services for after sales service.
