Atletico Madrid confirmed they have reached an agreement with Turkish international winger Arda Turan to renew his contract until 2017.
The move Thursday ends speculation over Turan's future after he was linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon Stadium last summer with either England or Turkey as possible destinations, reports Xinhua.
His agent Ahmet Bulut publicly discussed Liverpool and Arsenal as clubs the 26-year-old could have joined.
It now looks as if that was all part of his policy to secure an improved deal for the player, who said he was happy to form part of the "big family" of Atletico Madrid.
"I am very happy to have extended my contract with Atletico," said Arda, who moved to the club in the summer of 2011.
