Two five-storeyed buildings in Istanbul's Taksim district collapsed on Friday. No casualties were immediately reported.
Several people were believed to be trapped though the buildings were reported to be empty, with only several shops and cafe houses being operational at the ground floor, Xinhua reported.
Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin, citing a preliminary report, said no casualties have been reported yet. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.
