Two Indians were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Oman, a media report said Tuesday.

Vandana Vijayakumar, 31, an advertising professional, was found dead outside her office premises, while Biju, a 35-year-old freelancer, was found hanging in the former's living room in the port town of Azaiba Sunday, the Times of Oman reported.

Vandana's colleague discovered the two bodies with a knife lying beside her body.

Both the dead hailed from the south Indian state of Kerala.

Biju, a 35-year-old widower, was reportedly in touch with Vandana and visited her office on several occasions.

Vandana's husband has been staying in Peru and her children, a seven-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, are in Kerala.

Police have collected evidence from the scene and initiated a probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, a senior police official confirmed that the incident was being treated as a case of murder.

The mother of two had joined an advertisement agency in Azaiba about 18 months ago.

Prior to this, Vandana was working in Dubai.

According to Vandana's colleagues, she was good in her work.

"Biju was on a three-month vacation. He had gone to India and came back a few days ago only," the report quoted one of Vandana's colleagues as saying.

"We are in touch with the police and the embassy to repatriate her body back to Kerala. We do not know when it will be done," the colleagues added.
