Two killed in Afghanistan mine blast

At lest two people were killed and seven others injured as a roadside bomb went off in the eastern Khost city on Wednesday, spokesman for the provincial government Mohammad Mabariz Zadran said.

"A mine planted by militants struck the vehicle of Habib Khan Taniwal, a member of provincial council, at around 02.15 p.m., killing two persons on the spot and injuring seven others," Zadran told Xinhua.

Habib Khan escaped unhurt but three of his bodyguards were injured in the blast, he added.

Without providing more details, the official added that investigation has been initiated into the case.
