Two men were arrested in Delhi on charge of trying to sell a teenage girl into the flesh trade after one of them had raped her, police said on Tuesday.

The two have been booked on charges of kidnapping and human trafficking under the stringent POCSO Act at the Kamla Market police station.

Police said Constable Sundar deployed at the GB Road in mufti in central Delhi spotted a person, later identified as Parvez, roaming suspiciously in the area and befriended him.

After gaining his confidence by posing as a tout, Sundar came to know from Parvez that the latter was planning to sell a 15-year-old girl at one of the brothels in the area.

"Sundar settled the terms of the so-called deal with the accused and called up Kamla Market police station SHO Sunil Dhaka who in turn posed as a brothel owner. Parvez was asked to bring the girl, who was brought to the spot by his accomplice Shoaib. Both accused were overpowered by policemen and arrested from the spot," a police officer said.

Parvez told police that his accomplice had lured that girl away from her native place Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said that Pravez, a private cab driver, had raped her in Loni area of Ghaziabad before planning to sell her at the GB Road. Shoaib held the teenager hostage.
