Two minors killed in Kolkata as speeding bus hits scooty

Two minors were killed while another person got injured as the two wheeler they were travelling on, got knocked down by a speeding bus here, police said on Tuesday.

"Three persons travelling in a scooty got knocked down by a speeding bus on Ultadanga main road (in north Kolkata) at around 10 p.m. on Monday. Two minors, Akash Dutta, 11, and Bittu Sen, 16, both pillion riding on the two wheeler, were killed in the accident," said an officer from Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.

"Mrinmoy Parikshit, who was driving the bike, sustained injuries. None of the riders were wearing helmets during the accident," he said.

According to eye witnesses, the scooty came between two speeding private busses racing among each other and got knocked down one of the buses.

Both the buses have been seized by the local police on Monday while the drivers managed to flee, police said.
