Two more people, including a doctor, have been arrested in the inter-state child trafficking case detected here, CID officials said on Sunday.
Tapan Biswas, associated with the Baduria nursing home, one of the hubs of newborn child trafficking in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, was arrested from a relative's house at Burdwan district's Memari on Saturday night.
Biswas was on the run since CID conducted the raid in Baduria.
Basanti Chakraborty was also arrested from Thakurpukur region in South Kolkata on the same night for her links with the old age home in Thakurpukur. She was allegedly involved in the trafficking of 10 baby girls, who were recovered by the officials, from the home.
Both of them along with Basanti's partner in crime Bimal Adhikari were produced in the Basirhat court in North 24 Parganas on Sunday and sent to the CID's custody for 12 days.
A total of 16 people have so far been arrested in the last six days from different places of Kolkata and districts since the CID officials busted a child smuggling hub in Baduria last week.
