Two factories here were gutted Monday after the fire broke out in the units, resulting in huge loss of property.
At least 14 fire tenders battled the blaze for seven hours to bring the fire under control at two shoe factories - Ekta Shoes and its sister company MB Rubber. No casualties were reported.
"Prima facie, it seems that fire occurred due to electrical short circuiting but the cause is being investigated," said Vijay Singh, chief fire officer here.
"After seven hours of struggle, the part of office premises could be saved but the entire stock of finished goods at factories was gutted," he added.
