Days after a Sri Lankan woman was arrested at the Mumbai airport for smuggling Rs.15 lakh worth of gold, customs authorities in Goa nabbed two more Sri Lankans for smuggling over four kgs of the precious metal into India.
The two Lankan nationals, a customs official said, had the gold stuffed inside their rectums.
"The gold seized is valued at Rs 1.30 crore. Both the Sri Lankan nationals have been arrested. An Indian national who was travelling along with them has also been arrested," the customs official said, adding that the accused persons had landed at the Goa airport from the United Arab Emirates.
The identity of those arrested has not been revealed yet.
On Aug 17, a woman from Sri Lanka had been arrested at the Mumbai airport for smuggling gold into India.
