At least two suspected militants were killed in a gun battle with the police during a search operation in Karachi Sunday, media reported.
Chaudhary Ahsen Umar, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Malir district, confirmed that the operation was conducted in Sohrab Goth area near the Super-highway in Afghan Basti upon receiving a tip-off about the presence of foreign militants, adding that the police's raid team came under gun attack during the operation, Dawn reported.
Police personnel returned the gunfire as a result of which two suspected militants were killed, the SSP added.
Sources said five suspected foreign militants were also taken into custody during the operation.
