Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Oct 17 (IANS/WAM) The UAE has participated in the second session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum held here with countries from Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Led by Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the UAE delegation on Monday discussed with Tajikistan President Imam Ali Rahman ways of enhancing bilateral relations and establishing an effective mechanism for fostering cooperation between the two countries.
Rahman commended the UAE's participation in the event affirming the deeply rooted ties between the two nations.
The initiative to organise the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was first launched in the 130th session of the Council of the League of Arab States on September 8, 2008 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al Mansouri said the forum represented an important step for reinvigorating trade and investment relations between the participating countries and a major step in harnessing the vast resources by these nations.
The first session of the Forum at the ministerial level was held on May 14, 2014 in Saudi Arabia under the theme of "Investment prospects and trade exchange".
