UN Special Envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, arrived here on Monday for talks and discussion other humanitarian issues.
Arriving from Lebanese capital Beirut, Mistura is scheduled to meet top Syrian officials during his three-day visit, Xinhua news agency reported.
The UN envoy's visit came amid rumours that he had asked Washington to exert military pressure on Damascus for the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Al-Watan, a state-run Syrian newspaper said on Monday that Mistura might adress the rumours during his visit.
