UN agency in Nigeria will work to help some of the Nigerian schoolgirls who managed to escape after being abducted by Boko Haram militants.
However, most of the 200 girls abducted from a school in April this year are still missing, Xinhua reported.
Those who have managed to flee have been raped on their way to home.
"Some of the escaped girls who ran away, the Chibok girls, were raped on their way as they ran away from the insurgents. They met some lone men who then raped them and dumped them," Rati Ndhlovu, Nigeria's representative at the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) said.
UNFPA has distributed "dignity kits" to the girls.
"The girls are running from home and they have no menstruation pads and have nothing to use. They need water. They need the basic things that keep a woman dignified," Ndhlovu said.
The agency has also provided sex education to the girls and taught men and boys of the communities to get involved in creating a safer space for the girls to return to, she said.
About 270 girls from Chibok community in Nigeria's Borno state were abducted April 14 by Islamist group Boko Haram.
