An unexploded mortar shell was found in a drain in Jammu and it was later defused by a bomb disposal squad, police said on Friday.
"At 8.20 p.m. yesterday (Thursday), police control room in Jammu recieved a call that a mortar shell has been found in a drain" a shopping complex at Shankar Nagar, a police officer here told IANS.
"After examination, it was found that the object is a 81 mm mortar shell used by the army," the officer said.
He said this information was passed on to the 19 Grenadiers deployed in the city.
"An army team took custody of the object and later safely destroyed it at the Sunjwan army station," he added.
