United Sports Club failed to hold on a double-goal lead to finish with a 2-2 draw against Shilong Lajong outfit in an I-League match at the Kalyani Stadium here Sunday.
Eric Brown and Waheed Adekunle scored early for United Sports, but Durga Boro and Uilliams Bomfin Souza Silva drew parity for the visiting side.
Liberian midfielder Brown put United ahead in the 13th minute, while Nigerian Adekunle consolidated his side's position eight minutes later.
With Boro reducing the margin in the 32nd minute, United remained ahead 2-1 at the breather.
In the second session, Baldeep Singh and Mohammed Rafiq missed two easy chances, before Uilliam Silva finally equalised in the 57th minute.
After the 17th round, Lajong have garnered 24 points, four more than United.
