University student raped in own house

A 20-year-old open university student was raped in her own house here and an attempt was made to kill her by hitting her head with a blunt object, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. Friday when she was alone at her house in south Delhi's Sarita Vihar area, police said.

"The victim's parents found her in a pool of blood and took her to hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical," said a police officer.

Police are yet to get her medical report to confirm if she was raped.
