A day ahead of the start of the Uttar Pradesh assembly's winter session, an all-party meeting was held here on Wednesday, wherein Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit sought the cooperation of all parties in the smooth functioning of the house.
The Speaker said that logical, factual and qualitative dialogue can go a long way in finding solutions to problems faced by the state's people.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Leader of Opposition Ram Govind Chowdhary, Suhail Dev of the Bharatiya Samaj Party, state Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, Bahujan Samaj Party's Lalji Verma, Congress leader Ajay Kumar 'Lalu' and Apna Dal's Neel Ratan Singh Patel 'Neetu'.
The Chief Minister assured the Speaker of full cooperation from the treasury benches on this count and said that solutions come out of effective and logical dialogue and not by stalling the house proceedings.
"In a healthy democracy, it is the opposition's responsibility to ensure smooth functioning of the house," he said, adding that his government was committed to ensuring maximum and regular sittings of the assembly.
Adityanath said the government was ready to provide factual information and hold a debate on all issues of public interest.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna underlined the need for coordination between the treasury and opposition benches.
