The US security agency said it is temporarily banning travellers from bringing any amount of liquid in their carry-on luggage aboard flights between the US and Russia.
Any kind of gel or aerosol is also banned in travellers carry-on luggage aboard flights between the two countries, Xinhua quoted the US Transportation Security Administration as saying.
The restriction followed a warning Wednesday from the Department of Homeland Security that terrorists could target the Olympic Games in Russia with bomb-making materials hidden in toothpaste tubes.
Russia has already banned travellers from having any liquids or gels in their carry-on luggage.
