The US and Russian officials will hold cybersecurity consultations in Geneva this week, the media on Monday cited senior US officials as saying.

The consultations will take place with the participation of representatives of the White House, the US State Department and the FBI.

The sides are due to discuss the bilateral cybersecurity agreements signed in 2013, Sputnik reported.

"This meeting is not a restart of the bilateral presidential commission working group (suspended in 2014 after Ukraine events) but it is in our interest to discuss cybersecurity issues with Russia, including to review the 2013 bilateral US-Russia cyber (confidence-building) measures," a US official said.

In late March, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested during US State Secretary John Kerry's visit that Moscow and Washington could hold expert-level talks on issues related to cybercrime in the near future.
