The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved a new transfer policy for the current year and also approved Rs.300 crore as financial aid for the farmers in the state hit by the recent rain and hail.
At the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the cabinet okayed the new transfer policy under which officials can be transferred only between April 30 to June 30.
The departmental heads would have the right to transfer 10 percent of the subordinates, an official informed.
Facing flak over the tardy disbursement of financial aid to farmers hit by the recent rain and hailstorms, the cabinet approved an additional sum of Rs.300 crores as aid.
This money will be given to the affected farmers in special camps in 46 districts.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to levy 0.25 percent tax on petrol and diesel under the head of 'dedicated urban transport fund'.
