Akshat Gupta, District Magistrate of Uttarakhand's Udhamsingh Nagar, died after suffering a heart attack, officials said.
The 2006 batch IAS officer was just 38 years old. Gupta was visiting his parents in Noida when he started feeling uneasy and breathless late on Sunday.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility where the bureaucrat was declared brought dead. Officials said he had no reported cardiac history.
He will be cremated in Noida later on Monday, a family member said.
