The body of a young man from Uttarakhand was found in a hotel in Meerut Tuesday, police said.
Rahul, a 28-year-old resident of Haldwani, was found dead in his room by the staff of Ranjit Hotel when a waiter went to serve him breakfast.
When the door was not opened, it was broken down in the presence of police. The half-naked body of the man was found lying by the bed.
The deceased was identified from the papers found in his bag.
An empty bottle, most likely of some poisonous substance, and a suicide note were found in the room, an official said.
The body was sent for autopsy and the man's family informed.
