Veteran Kannada actor Chandrashekhar passed away after a cardiac arrest in Ottawa in Canada early on Saturday, his daughter Tanya said. He was 63.
He is survived by his mother, wife Sheela, and daughter Tanya.
Bengaluru-based Tanya informed the media here about her father's death.
He had moved to Canada in 1984 but continued to work in Kannada films and has over 40 movies to his credit.
The actor was popularly known for his performance in film "Edakallu Guddada Mele" (1973), and was called 'Edakallu' Chandrashekhar ever since due to the film's success.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled the actor's death and said it was a "great loss" to the Kannada film industry.
