A group of people stopped two trucks carrying cattle and beat up their drivers and helpers in Assam on Sunday afternoon.

The incident took place at Dimoria, about 20 km from Assam's main city Guwahati.

Police said the truck drivers had all the valid documents to transport the cattle.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren Math said a police team rushed to Dimoria.

"Our officials found that the victims had all the valid documents to ferry the cattle. While one vehicle was coming from Tinsukia, another was returning from the nearby Jagiroad market," said a police official.

He said the police would take action only if there was a complaint.
