English football club Aston Villa on Sunday confirmed that defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
"Aston Villa can confirm defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015/16 Premier League season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee," Aston Villa said in a statement.
The 21-year-old suffered the injury on Thursday night playing for France Under-21s against Northern Ireland in an European qualifying fixture.
Amavi has featured 12 times for Villa since joining from French club Nice in the summer, helping to keep a clean sheet against Premier League leaders Manchester City in what will ultimately be his final appearance of the campaign on Sunday.
