A Vistara airlines plane was abruptly asked to abort its take off at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport here on Thursday evening.
The Vistara flight VIT 933 was about to take off when the ATC asked the pilot to stop, forcing the plane to be brought to a grinding halt.
As security officials and passengers on board went into a tizzy, it was announced that an Express India flight AXB194 was about to land and that the Vistara plane would have to abort its take off.
The plane was also carrying Principal Secretary (Information) Avanish Kumar Awasthi, who later tweeted that the plane was stopped from taking off due to "traffic congestion at Delhi airport" and that it took off after 20 minutes.
Taking to Twitter, another passenger, Gaurav Dwivedi, former vice-chairman of the UP Film Council, said that a "mishap was averted on the runway, thanks to God".
