Vital information has been obtained from two alleged Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, arrested from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district last month, police said, as the duo's police custody ended on Tuesday.

Shahnawaz Teli and Aquib Ahmad, both residents of Kashmir, were arrested on February 22 and were subsequently sent to 10 days police custody. They have now been sent to the Lucknow district jail amid tight security.

During their interrogation in police custody, they gave many leads and important information, an official of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) said.

In the sustained interrogation sessions, the official said, that Teli and Ahmed not only admitted to recruiting new members to the terror outfit but the ATS also laid hands on many "virtual numbers", which are being studied by technical experts.

"Evidence has also been found of a senior member of the JeM coming to Deoband to meet them and their going to some places in Uttar Pradesh have also been found," Additional Director General of Police, ATS, Aseem Arun said.

Data extraction of the WhatsApp and BBM chat was done and it is being studied.

Some leads in term of other links have also come forth and the ATS, along with the local police, is working on them so as to unearth the sleeper cells and their conduits, officials said.
