The cockpit voice recorder, a part of the black box of the crashed AirAsia flight, was retrieved Tuesday from the Java sea floor and was on board an Indonesian Navy ship bound for Jakarta for analysis, media reported.
The voice recorder was detected and lifted from the Java sea floor near the location where the flight data recorder was retrieved Monday, Xinhua reported.
Based on pings from its emergency transmitter, the cockpit voice recorder was spotted by the search teams Monday.
The flight data recorder retrieved near the wrecked tail wing of the Airbus 320-200 Monday morning has also been transported to the Indonesian capital for investigation.
The flight data and cockpit voice recorders, known as black boxes, are vital to determine the cause of any air crash.
The AirAsia plane was en route to Singapore from Indonesia's Surabaya city, with 162 people onboard, when it crashed Dec 28, 2014. There were no survivors.
The search operation, which continued for the 17th day Tuesday, has been hampered by big waves and powerful currents. So far, 48 bodies have been recovered and 34 of them have been identified. Most of the undiscovered ones are believed to be entombed.
