Volunteers from five villages adopted by Rashtrapati Bhavan completed their training in traditional therapies and first aid on Wednesday, an official statement said.

Omita Paul, Secretary to President Pranab Mukherjee, on Wednesday presented certificates to village volunteers who participated in the internship programme at AYUSH Wellness Centre in the President's Estate under the Smart Gram Initiative.

"Fifteen volunteers from the five villages -- Dhaula, Alipur, Harchandpur, Rojka Meo and Taj Nagar -- adopted by Rashtrapati Bhavan under its Smart Gram Initiative, were given training in therapies under Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, First Aid and Physiotherapy for two months.

"Today, they were awarded certificates and First Aid kits. These trainees will now run the Smart Gram Wellness Centres being opened and inaugurated in the villages on November 11, 2016 by the Haryana Chief Minister," the statement said.

Speaking on the occasion, Paul said that volunteers must utilise their training to serve the people of their respective villages with dedication.

"Rashtrapati Bhavan will continue this endeavour and efforts were already underway to train the second batch of volunteers," she added.
