Walmart India on Wednesday announced the launch of its entrepreneurship development programme for women-owned businesses aimed at enhancing their skills, capability and sustainability.
A total of 32 businesses have been selected in the first batch, the company said in a statement.
"(A total of) 32 women-owned businesses have been selected under the 'Walmart Women Entrepreneurship Development Program'. The initiative is designed to help them achieve higher levels of business growth. We hope to create a pipeline of women suppliers for the industry as well as for us," said Walmart India president and CEO Krish Iyer.
The programme was announced in January, which invited applications in different categories from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Telangana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
During the nine-month programme, women entrepreneurs will undergo capacity building training, mentoring and technical support customized to the needs of their businesses.
