The Cricket Association of Bengal Monday roped in Pakistani pace legend Waqar Younis and former Sri Lankan spin expert Muttiah Muralitharan as bowling consultants for three years.
The two bowling greats would be a part of a coaching programme starting March 15, said former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly after a working committee meeting of the CAB.
As per the contract, Younis and Muralitharan would train the upcoming Bengal bowlers for at least 30 days.
Younis and Muralitharan will begin their stint by coaching 200 budding players to be chosen by the 94 affiliated clubs of the CAB. There will be 94 pacers and spinners each. Tweleve other bowlers would be drawn from among under-19 players doing duty for second division clubs.
The local coaches would continue the coaching programme through the year. "Waqar and Murali will be available for 30-40 days. The local coaches will be there to continue the cam through the year."
