The West Bengal CID have arrested Gorkha Janamukti Morcha's Delhi unit president Manoj Shankar from the national capital, a CID officer said on Wednesday.
Shankar, who was allegedly involved in the clash between West Bengal Police and the GJM supporters near Darjeeling's Bhanu Bhaban during the Gorkhaland agitation on June 9, was arrested by a CID team from Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave area.
A case was registered in the Darjeeling Sadar police station against the GJM leader for rioting, creating enmity between two groups, deterring public servant from duty, voluntarily causing heart and various other charges under the Indian Penal Code.
According to the officer, the leader is being brought to West Bengal.
Shankar was one of the six GJM leaders along with party chief Bimal Gurung and his wife, against whom the state CID department issued arrest warrants last month.
The leaders are also charged under the West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
