The Jammu and Kashmir police chief said here on Monday the police and the security forces will soon finish militancy in the state.

Speaking to media, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said, "The state police and other security forces are doing a great job and we will soon put an end to militancy in Kashmir.

"The Pakistan-sponsored militancy is still prevailing. Since last many decades, security forces are doing a fine job to foil militants' designs."

Singh said the overall security scenario is good and there is nothing to worry about. "I hope the situation will become normal soon and we will succeed in putting an end to militancy", he said.

He paid glowing tributes to Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar Thakur who was killed on Sunday fighting JeM militants in the Kulgam district of J&K. "In this hour of grief, we stand with the bereaved family", the police chief said.

Three JeM militants, including two Pakistani nationals, were killed in a gunfight in Turigam village of the Kulgam district on Sunday.
