West Bengal is about to sign over 20 initial agreements with Britain in course of the five-day visit of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as per a a letter written by the British Prime Minister David Cameron.
"The proposed signature of over 20 Memorandums of Understanding between the UK and West Bengal during your visit is a clear reflection of our positive relationship in a number of areas," said the letter of Cameron, apologising for his inability to meet her during her current visit to London as he is out of the country. Nevertheless, he wished Banerjee success during her visit.
Banerjee is presently in Britain seeking collaboration between it and her state as well as to promote the state as a place for foreign investment in India. She is accompanied by a delegation comprising of state ministers, MPs, businessmen and others.
"I am sorry my travel plans mean I will not be in London to see you in persona I wish you a successful and rewarding visit which will help to forge the close ties between the UK and West Bengal", the letter read.
Banerjee on Monday tweeted about the letter and the proposed agreements.
"I thank him for his good wishes," she tweeted.
