The government will spare no effort to safeguard the country's borders and will address all important issues related to security, union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said here Monday.

Addressing senior officers of the Border Security Force (BSF) during a review meeting, Rajnath Singh said the government "will leave no stone unturned to safeguard borders". He added he has been apprised of the major issues concerning border security.

"We believe that security is the first and foremost requirement for development. Therefore, our borders should always be safe and secure," he said.

The minister added that the BSF has always played a "pivotal role" in safeguarding borders and that its performance has been "outstanding and excellent".

Singh was received the BSF headquarters here Monday by Director General D.K. Pathak and was given a guard of honour by the BSF troopers.

Later, he was given a detailed presentation on border management, operations, internal security, personnel and administrations of the force.

The minister lauded the contribution of the BSF in different parts of the country, in border management, anti-Left Wing Extremism operations (LWE Ops), internal security, and rescue operations.

He said the home ministry is already in the process of addressing all the issues of functional requirements of the force.
