CPI-M leader Mohammed Salim on Thursday landed in a controversy by warning that the Left Front will take account of all "murderers and executioners" who ran amok during the Trinamool Congress regime after it comes to power following the assembly polls.
"After the elections, we will take account of all murderers and executioners," the Communist Party of India-Marxist politburo member said at an election rally in Labhpur of Birbhum district.
"We will take account of every drop of blood of our men who have embraced martyrdom," he added.
Salim's comments attracted criticism.
Congress state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said his party - which has teamed up wtih the CPI-M led Left Front - differed with Salim's view.
"We will ensure peace in the state. What he has said, we don't agree (with)," he said.
Trinamool leader Anubrata Mandal said his party would move the Election Commission with the video tape of Salim's comments.
