'Wimpy Kid' author Jeff Kinney to visit India in December

Wimpy Kid fans can rejoice as Jeff Kinney, the author of the series, is visiting India this December.

The best-selling author of the 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid series', will visit Delhi and Mumbai to deliver the 2016 Penguin annual lecture.

Kinney's first visit to India will give his countless fans a rare opportunity to see their favourite author in person and to interact with him.

"I'm thrilled to visit more places where Wimpy Kid has impacted the lives of young readers. My first global tour was an amazing, uplifting experience. I am looking forward to visiting so many new places this November and December," Kinney said.

'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down,' the 11th in the series, is eagerly anticipated by Wimpy Kid fans and will be released on November 1 by Puffin.

"This is a dream come true - we are really excited that Jeff Kinney is coming to India. The Penguin annual lecture is going to be incredibly enriching, fun and like no event we've had before," said Hemali Sodhi, Senior VP Marketing, Penguin Random House India.

The Penguin annual lecture series has featured speakers like Thomas Friedman, diplomat and writer Chris Patten, spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and authors Dan Brown and Ruskin Bond, among others.

The details and dates of of the lecture will be announced soon, the publisher said.
