A 26-year-old woman was on Monday arrested for creating ruckus and abusing staff at the office of the Gurgaon Police Commissioner alleging that police refused to act on her complaint.

The woman, identified as Pooja alias Vimla, was later presented in the court of the area magistrate.

Hailing from Uttarakhand's Champawat district, Pooja is a divorcee and currently lives in Palam Vihar area of Gurgaon.

She alleged that she was thrashed inside her house on Sunday night by two men, one of whom was known to her.

"I went to the Palam Vihar police station after the incident but police refused to register my complaint alleging I was drunk and asked me to come in the morning, but they did not take any action," Pooja said outside the office of police chief Navdeep Singh Virk.

Virk was not in his office at the time of the incident.

The woman was arrested under the Haryana Police Act, a police official told IANS.

The official said the woman was earlier booked too for creating ruckus in an inebriated condition in 2013 and was jailed in 2015 on charges of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty, and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
