A 39-year-old woman, who claimed she was raped, was arrested for making a hoax bomb call to police on Tuesday when the 'accused' called police after the woman demanded Rs.20-30 lakh to "settle" the issue, officials said.
The woman was arrested from Kirti Nagar area of Gurgaon on Tuesday for making a hoax call about a bomb planted at a mall.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar said the woman, who worked at a private company, allegedly wrote a letter to the 'accused' to settle the case outside court, and demanded Rs.20-30 lakh.
When the 'accused' man reported the matter to police, the woman tried to divert police attention and called the police control room about a bomb planted at a mall.
The woman was arrested, and will be produced before a court on Wednesday.
