The number of women searching for Valentine's Day gift ideas for their partners was more than men in the past 30 days, according to a new research.

Google has combed through recent search trends to get an idea of what's on people's mind this Valentine's Day, which is on Friday.

The graph also shows that men begin 'googling' gift ideas at a later date than women.

When it comes to gifts, it is the good old flowers, chocolates and cakes that dominate the space, but people are also looking out for watches, perfumes, wallets, tablets, clothes and bags.

What tops the to-do activities on the special day, according to Google Search Trends, is a movie date. And what seems to be the popular choice is the action thriller "Gunday", followed by "Hasee Toh Phasee", "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "American Hustle".

Apart from movie dates, couples are looking out for romantic candlelight dinners, going out for drinks and even toying with the idea of staying at home or spending time with your loved one over special Valentine's Day recipes.
